Working out of town, studying in a different country, researching on another continent, we find less and less time to spend with our loved ones. Society builds walls, exposes false differences and thus even further increases distances between human beings. In stead we substitute our lack of interpersonal interaction with long distance communication devices and media, our subconscious lack of human companionship imitating social intercourse through cold wires, circuitry and digital signals. The future holds no better, as humanity inevitabley expands beyond Earth and the solar system, distance will not be the only thing standing between us, time will as well. Artificial long distance interaction will be limited by the speed of light, and communication will take days, weeks, months. Years.
